About

In addition to maintaining my license as a social worker (# 083195), I work primarily as an Assistant Professor and Social Sciences Librarian at Hunter College in New York City. I am also an Adjunct Professor at the School of Information Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where I teach a graduate course on Library Social Work. My research focuses on social work students conducting field placements at public libraries.

My professional aim is to raise awareness about these existing social work student/public library partnerships and the need for such collaborations to increase in order to better meet the needs of patrons.

I welcome suggestions to add content to this site so it can be a useful resource.  Please let me know if you would like to have your own social work/library partnership featured or if I simply need to update cited information.

Thank you,

Sarah C. Johnson, MLIS, LMSW
Assistant Professor, Social Sciences Librarian
Hunter College, City University of New York
